Greenhouse lighting must work with changing daylight rather than treating every hour as a closed-room condition. The design starts with crop and production season, then considers glazing, bay spacing, mounting points, existing HPS infrastructure and climate-computer control.

Candidate formats include compact top lights, linear top lights and interlighting bars. Beam distribution, structural shadow, wet-environment connections and service access matter as much as nominal wattage.

Planning a greenhouse lighting purchase

Separate the daylight-supplementation area from any propagation or service areas. In the quotation brief, include greenhouse bay width, crop-row spacing, structural members and current lighting. For a retrofit, photos of mounting and cable routes help define the installation scope. For a new build, a plan drawing makes it easier to compare top-light layouts.

Keep top lighting and row-level interlighting separate in the equipment schedule. This allows their quantities, controls and accessories to be priced clearly. Ask for a complete bill of materials covering lights, drivers, suspension and connecting cables so a low fixture price is not compared with a fully supplied system.
